WHY CASTEK

BUILT FROM EXPERIENCING PLAYER DEVELOPMENT FROM BOTH SIDES.

Castek was founded by Casian Anghel, a UEFA licensed coach with professional playing experience in Europe and a football journey that has taken him through Romania, England, Spain and Australia.

Experiencing different football environments as both a player and coach has shaped a clear belief: there is no single pathway or method that works for every player.

Different players have different strengths, limitations, positions, environments and ambitions. Development should reflect that.

Castek was built around this idea, helping players better understand their game, identify what matters for their development and work on it with greater purpose.

FOUR COUNTRIES. DIFFERENT FOOTBALL ENVIRONMENTS.

My journey through football has exposed me to different approaches to coaching and player development.

From growing up and playing in Romania, studying football coaching and management in England, experiencing the game in Spain, to playing and coaching in Australia, each environment has influenced the way I see development.

Rather than following one methodology, I take principles from different football environments and apply what is relevant to the individual player in front of me.

That experience has also shown me that development is rarely about doing more of everything.

It is about understanding what matters most for you.

CONTINUOUSLY STUDYING THE GAME.

Football continues to evolve. My approach has to evolve with it.

Alongside my playing and coaching experience, I have continued developing my understanding of the game through formal education, coaching qualifications and exposure to leading European football methodologies.

My background includes:

  • BSc Football Coaching & Management
University Campus of Football Business, Manchester

  • UEFA C Licence

  • Barça Innovation Hub
    Strength & Conditioning for Football

  • Barça Innovation Hub
    Tactical Analysis & Scouting

  • Tactalyse
    Individual tactical development and methodology

The objective is not to collect qualifications.

It is to continuously improve the way I observe, understand and develop players, then translate that knowledge into coaching that is relevant to their age, level, position and needs.

I’M STILL IN THE GAME.

I am not coaching football from the outside.

I am still experiencing it as a player.

Training. Competing. Fighting for selection. Reviewing performances. Working under different coaches. Adapting to different tactical demands. Experiencing good performances, poor performances and the constant pressure to improve.

That matters.

It keeps my coaching connected to the reality players experience every week.

I understand that development is not always linear and that what happens between training sessions, including confidence, decision making, understanding your role and responding to setbacks, can be just as important as the work itself.

That perspective shapes the way I work with every player.

THE CASTEK APPROACH.

Castek is built around a simple principle:

Understand your game. Develop what matters.

The goal is not to create players who all look or play the same way.

The goal is to understand the individual, their game, position, strengths, areas for development and environment, and build a plan around what can genuinely help them progress.

Technical work should connect to the game.

Tactical understanding should influence decisions on the pitch.

Physical development should support the demands of the player and their position.

Everything should have a reason.

Your game. Your journey. Your development.
